ADMISSION INFORMATION Laurier is a good university with a reputation for attracting top students. Some of our programs require very high marks to enter—Business, and Kinesiology and Physical Education, for example—while others are less competitive. United States applicants who have completed Grade 12 or equivalent with superior academic standing and can present Scholastic Aptitude Test scores of 1000 (minimum 500 verbal and 500 mathematics) will be considered for admission to the first year of a Laurier degree program. If your educational system involves the General Certificate of Education (British Commonwealth System) you must have five or six different subjects including at least two at the advanced level to be considered. Applicants from other countries will be assessed on the minimum requirements from equivalent Canadian secondary-school academic systems. Foreign students should apply for the term beginning in September. If offered admission, you should take your documents to the local Canadian government official, or if there is no Canadian representative, to the British government representative to obtain a visa. All applicants whose mother tongue is not English must supply the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) result, the Michigan Test of English Language Proficiency result, or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) result. (TOEFL score of 560 paper format or 220 computer format or Michigan score of 90 or IELTS score of 7 required.) For an on-line application, go to the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre Web site < http://compass.ouac.on.ca>.Due to the normal competition for spaces in limited-enrolment programs, applicants wishing to enter as full-time students in the fall are advised to have their applications completed by April 30.
