Note: We suggest that your application be made well in advance of published deadlines since Student Authorizations are not normally issued until you have received an offer of admission from a Canadian institution. Student Authorizations are issued through the Canadian High Commission in your home country. For more information, refer to the Canadian Immigration Web site: http://cicnet.ci.gc.ca

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants for admission will be required to present evidence of English Proficiency if their primary or first language is not English, and they have had less than four years of full-time secondary school study in an English-language school system.

Applicants required to provide evidence of English proficiency must meet one of the following three proficiency requirements:

1. The International English Language Testing System with a minimum overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.

2. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 600 (paper-based) or 250 (computer-based), and Test of Written English (TWE) with a score of 5 and Test of Spoken English (TSE) with a score of 50. (This standard is currently under review at the University of Guelph. We will consider your application if you have achieved a score of 570 or higher (paper-based) or 230 or higher (computer-based).

3. The Michigan English Language Assessment Battery with a minimum overall score of 85 and a minimum composition score of 83. In addition, applicants must present a minimum score of three (3) on the oral test.

SCHOLARSHIPS

A limited number of international scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $6,000 Canadian dollars will be awarded to new students entering semester one with a record of high academic achievement and extra-curricular involvement. International scholarship offers will be made on the basis of your complete admission file including high school grade point average, SAT/ACT scores as well as personal letters of support and reference letters. Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis. The Scholarship Review Committee will meet in mid-April. Please note that all relevant grade data must be submitted to Admission Services on or before April 1 for international students to be considered for a scholarship.
